Waterloo’s Inaugural Food Truck Festival, a much gourmet extravaganza, will serve up delectable enjoyment for all levels. Festival organizers Amy Miller and Kelsey Delp claim that “the community has been asking for an event like this, and we are pleased to be able to give a unique and great experience for those foodies out there.” At the RiverLoop Expo Plaza, you’ll find some of the region’s top food truck vendors and family-friendly activities.

The Food truck delicious festival is set to launch the party for the foodies at the RiverLoop Expo Plaza at Park Ave and Jefferson St in Downtown Waterloo on Saturday, September 4, from 11 am-8 pm. An integrated public exhibition room on two city blocks serves as an outdoor vendor, market, and recreation space. The site acts as a visible entrance to the Waterloo Riverwalk and a link to it. The official hotel of the festival is the Best Western Plus Executive Residency, which was recently remodeled. In the heartland of Waterloo, this stunning estate is a reflection of the area’s resurgence. The hotel is equipped with modern conveniences and thoughtfully designed rooms and suites. Have a plan for your stay, and be ready to feel at home when you arrive! Parking is available at numerous places around the RiverLoop Expo Plaza for event guests. Free parking is available at 225 Commercial and under the Highway 218 flyover near the Waterloo Center for the Arts, located at 225 Commercial. You can park on Commercial St. For $5.
More than just a foodie’s fantasy, the inaugural Food Truck Festival is a food battle!
It’s a competition between vendors to see who will be crowned the finest of the best! A distinctive menu dish from each vendor will be offered in random samples. The Yummo Award will be presented to the vendor with the maximum ranking. People who come to the event will purchase $2 samples and vote for the winners of Favorite, Flavoursome, and Treat Yourself. In the case of VIP tickets, the samples are already included in the cost of the tickets. There will be ballots at the gate and ticket desk that can be returned at the stage. From 11 am to 5 pm, you can cast your vote, and the winners will be presented between 5:30 and 6 PM.
A Range of Other Fun Activities Too…
Tasty and innovative food trucks from around the Midwest will be displayed during the festival, but the excitement doesn’t end there. Entertainment, kids’ activities, a culinary eating competition, and a bags tournament will occupy your day.
Food Truck Festival Bags Tournament
IAFF Local 66 Waterloo Fire Fighters and Main Street Waterloo are joining forces to present you the Bags Tournament! they will donate every penny of the winnings back to the union. Their goal is to raise money in Justin Junk’s honor for the Cedar Valley Hospice. Until Thursday, September 2 at 5:00 p.m., online registration will be active. Registration and player check-in will take place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on the day of the event. The game will begin at 2 p.m. strong. A two-person team costs $30. Two general admission passes to the Inaugural Food Truck Festival, and two beer vouchers are included in each team’s registration fee. There will be a double-elimination format for this non-sanctioned event, which will follow the ACL rules. This rule does not apply to “skunks.”
What are the ticket prices for the event?
People above the age of 18 can enter for $5. Children 12 and under are welcome but must be attended by an adult 18 years of age or older. Food truck festival is a rain or shine event. There are also VIP tickets that cost $50 and include unique perks. VIP tickets include access to the event, fast food lines to reduce the waiting time, and samples for the food contest for no additional cost. An additional food and beverage sample is included in the VIP ticket price. There are no reimbursements to the ticket, and all sales are deemed to be final. Masks are mandatory, and proof of vaccinations is required to be produced.
