History of the World Part 2: Hulu Releases New Mel Brooks Sequel Trailer
The official trailer for Hulu’s new comedy series “History of the World, Part II” has been revealed. The two-episode pilot for the sketch comedy series will air on March 6, followed by a new episode every day until the series finale on March 9. It’s been 40 years since Mel Brooks’ “History of the World, Part I” film was released, and now, with the new series, Brooks has finally made a sequel. The series creator, writer, and narrator are also one of its executive producers alongside Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes, Ike Barinholtz, David Stassen, and Christie Smith for “History of the World, Part II.” A number of well-known actors, including James Adomian, Jason Alexander, Fred Armisen, Tim Bagley, Dan Bakkedahl, Travis Bennett, Sarayu Blue, Craig Cackowski, Arturo Castro, Parvesh Cheena, Margaret Cho, Andy Cohen, Andy Daly, Colton Dunn, Ayo Edebiri, Ana Fabrega, Marla Gibbs, Blake Griffin, Mitra Jouhari, Preston Lacy, Robby Hoffman, Anna.
History of the World Part 2 Release Date
Monday, March 6 is the official launch date for Hulu’s History of the World, Part 2. Episodes will air Monday through Thursday of that week, making it a “four-night event,” as has been termed.
History of the World Part 2 Plot
The movie is a satire of the sword-and-sandal epic and period costume drama subgenres of the historical spectacular film genre anthology. Stories from the Stone Age, the Roman Empire, the Spanish Inquisition, and the French Revolution are included in the four major sections. The delivery of the Ten Commandments and the Last Supper are two such examples of intermediate skits. The first funerals, the discovery of fire, the first artist (who in turn inspires the first critic), the first unions between homo sapiens and then homosexuals, the first spears, and primitive weapons like spears are all depicted by cavemen, including Sid Caesar. Early attempts at humor and music are also seen. The actors bash each other’s feet with pebbles, producing an orchestra of screams (until they sing Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” at the conclusion). Brooks portrays Comicus, as a “stand-up philosopher” who combines stand-up comedy with philosophy in his work. Swiftus, Comicus’ agent, informs the actor that the actor has been hired by Caesar’s Palace (Ron Carey). While traveling to the palace, Comicus befriends Josephus, an Ethiopian slave, and falls in love with a Vestal Virgin named Miriam (Mary-Margaret Humes) (Gregory Hines). When Josephus is enlisted in the Empress Nympho’s service, his life is saved (Madeline Kahn). Emperor Nero (Dom DeLuise) feasts on food, swoons over attractive women and waits for entertainment in the palace. Comicus loses sight of his audience and starts spitting forth derogatory one-liners about the emperor’s prodigious bodily features and corrupt habits. Josephus is sent to engage Comicus in a gladiatorial battle to the death after carelessly pouring a jug of wine over Nero’s lap. They struggle their way out of the palace, helped by Miracle the horse, Empress Nympho, and Miriam. Josephus is “outed” among a group of eunuchs after “reacting” to a seductive dancer’s performance, and the group is pursued by Roman troops commanded by Marcus Vindictus after Miriam aids Comicus, Josephus, and Swiftus momentarily seeks safety in Empress Nympho’s palace (Shecky Greene). Josephus asks the company to stop in a field and demands a lot of papyrus as the soldiers close in on the group’s cart (drawn by Miracle). He builds a device he calls a “Mighty Joint” out of “Roman Red” marijuana that is growing next to the road, rolls it into the papyrus, lights it on fire, and mounts it to the back of their chariot, trailing smoke into the pursuing army. The resultant haze causes the Roman troops to become disoriented and helpless. After that, the fugitive gang departs from the dock for Judea. Comicus, a waiter at a restaurant, inadvertently wanders into the Last Supper while Jesus is informing the apostles, “One of you has betrayed me today,” in a private room. Apostles are terrified. “JUDAS,” says Comicus. When Comicus asks Jesus (John Hurt), “Do you want some mulled wine?”, Judas is startled and nearly jumps out of his seat (using his name as an expression of dismay or concern, right in front of him). Leonardo da Vinci (Art Metrano) eventually shows up to paint a picture of the group. They are forced to relocate to one side of the table as he paints them with Comicus standing behind Jesus and holding a silver plate that serves as a halo because he is dissatisfied that he can only see the backs of half of their heads.
Who Is Starring in History of the World Part 2
Given that Part I featured some of the biggest comedic actors in the genre at the time, including Gregory Hines, Dom Deluise, Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman, and Sid Caesar, Part II certainly has some large roles to fill in the casting department. Fortunately, History of the World: Part II has a number of well-known actors attached to play the lead roles. The list of other performers is endless, but we’ve already revealed that Mel Brooks, Wanda Sykes, Ike Barinholtz, and Nick Kroll will all star in the series in addition to producing it.
How to Watch History of the World Part 2
US viewers will require a Hulu subscription in order to watch History of the World Part II. But there are a couple of methods to get that.
